Instructors
Laura Atkinson has studied dance with Anthony Sellars, Terri Sellars, and Keith Clifton here at OCDC. Laura is a former member of our company, BRT. She has performed in The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Labayadere, Fantasia, Paquita, Sleeping Beauty, Red Poppy, and many more. Laura has also been in mall performances with Cook Productions, and has helped direct the show as well. Laura has also studied with Linsa Sohl-Donnell, Karen Shanley, and Jose Costas. After receiving her AA degree at OCC, Laura transferred to California State University of Long Beach (CSULB). She is continuing her studies there and earning her Bachelors degree in dance. Laura is studying with Sophie Monat-Gaydos, Alaine Haubert, Andy Vaca, Doug Nielson, Keith Johnson, and Karen Clippinger. Laura's choreography has been featured at OCC student dance concerts and CSULB contemporary dance concert.
Laura has now been teaching OCDC for six years.
Ana Falley has been studying different types of dance at Orange County Dance Center for 11 years. Her main focus was ballet and jazz, but enjoyed taking hip hop classes as well. Ana was involved in Ballet Repertory Theatre for 5 years, performing many different roles in numerous performances such as The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Giselle, Sleeping Beauty, La Bayadere, Paquita, and Red Poppy. She has been teaching and substituting classes for the past 5 years. She choreographed two dances for Academy for the Performing Arts in 2000 and 2001, and was nominated for Best Choreographer for both years. She also taught Hip Hop, Jazz, and Ballet for Los Caballeros Dance Academy for two years. Ana enjoys teaching Orange County Dance Center's Summer Intensive Program because she loves to work with children who have a passion for dance.
Terri Hayes is a protege of Mr. Sellars and received her principal training under his direction. She made her professional debut in the title role of Giselle with San Antonio Ballet, and has worked with the prestigious American Ballet Theatre and Joffrey Ballet, both of New York City. In 1975, she was selected "Miss Dance of America" in final competitions held in New York Cit, under the auspices of the National Dance Teachers Association. While there, Ms. Hayes continued her studies with such renowned teachers as Mme. Pereyslavec, Leon Danielian, Meredith Baylis and Robert Joffrey. She is currently Ballet Mistress and Principal Dancer with Ballet Repertory Theater in Southern California. Terri continues to garner critical and audience acclaim for her recent roles in Swan Lake, Carnival, Giselle and The Nutcracker.
Shelly Macy has been singing and dancing her entire life. She is a member of Dance Master's of America, which is a nationally respected Dance Teacher's organization. She is a member of Actor's Equity Association and has performed in many Equity Theaters throughout the United States. She is also a member of the Screen Actor's Guild and has done many Commercials, TV and Film work. Shelly was an apprentice with Pittsburgh Ballet Theater first under the direction of Ballet Master Frano Jellinic and his wife Dagmar Kessler and later Patrick Franz. She attended Chautauqua Institution Ballet Program as a Scholarship student and performed in many Chautauqua Ballet productions.
Anthony Sellars was born in Los angeles and had his early training with prominent teachers in the Hollywood area. He made his professional debut in the role of the Nutcracker Prince with the New York City Ballet. Also, at an early age, he had the male lead in the NBC special "Hansel and Gretal." He studied extensively with Michael Lland while he was the principal dancer with the Houston Ballet. Mr. Sellars has toured all over the U.S. and Europe, with special performances in Athens, Greece. His reputation as a Master Teacher finds him in constant demand all over the country. He is the Artistic Director of Ballet Repertory Theatre in Southern California. With his wife and partner, Terri Hayes, they have three children.
